Hello,
our experience of the EC tells us that the minimum time span is 9 days, but for WC that's a bit too busy, i.e. risky. I think 10 or maximum 11 days should be enough. About mixed or separate O/H and V: we are aware of the fact that the FSR section recommends split organisation, but that means double registrations, double opening ceremonies, double banquets and double prize givings, basically a lot of work for not a lot of benefit. We think that if we can keep it 3-4 days shorter than Leno + providing a venue that gives possibilities of relaxing on days when a racer does not have competition, this could be a fair deal for everyone, racers, family members and organizing team as well. In any case, we have to check our possibilities before taking the final decision, but these are the directions we think about right now. Regards, Andras |

Andras,
It is good news that you think the sections should not be split. All the best championships I have been to have been combined V, H & O. Looking forward to 2010, have heard lots of good things form those who made it this year to your event. Grahame |

At the Norway section meeting it was proposed and voted that the championships would be split. See the copy from the section meeting below, unless this vote is
changed at a future section meeting, I presume that the split is mandatory. If Hungary are considering mixing the H/O with the V it may be best to check with
Peter Schaft if this will be allowed. Personally I'm ok with either program.
----------------------------------------- Vote takes place: In Favour: 13 (Argentina, Belgium, Bulgaria, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Luxembourg, Norway, Russia, Spain, The Netherlands) Against: 6 (Byelorussia, Estonia, Great Britain, New Zealand, Ukraine, USA) Abstain: 3 (Australia, Slovenia, Sweden) 2 left the meeting during the break: (China, China Hong Kong) Proposal is accepted and from next championships the classes will be split with an overlap period during which registration for the next group, banquet and meeting will take place. Luxemburg - What class is going to be 1st ? Section - Will be discussed with the country organising. Norway - splitting is good but not like it was done in Poland where there wasn't a lot of time give to the H and O classes. |

Hello all,
now, we have more problems in company, many administrative, production a technical activities were restricted to minimal level and organizational structure is changing. I will not have holyday 14 days continuously for my hobby . It is only my problem? |

Pavel, it is not only Yours problem. How i can understand the problem: racers, who have both group boats( egz.-FSRV and FSRO), however will stay for all
championship time. But for me and other guys from my country, and i think for a lot of racers from other countries, who have only one class-very bad option
stay for 14 days, when we can be 7-9 days. In these 'hard' economical times people want spent money as less as we can. i think What only separate
groups is the best option. (for hungary - Andras, i think some of the people will not come at all to championship, if it will be not split.) With best wishes,
Alex F.

I agree with you achilas, but I don't know about how much racers have both group.
From my point of view - spend 7 days is acceptable, 9 days (with two weekends) is maximum, 14 days is impossible.... Andras, when will be resolved? |

Hello,
as I've written it in my previous post, we are quite aware of all the possible advantages and disadvantages of the combined and split versions. The venue is a spa resort that makes it a bit special: for the interest of normal spa guests we have to keep the event as short as possible. Combined shorter, because you don't need double ceremonies, double registration, etc, so it's possible to do it in 10-11 days (and do not forget that 4 of them are actually weekend days). Honestly I do not think that it affects the participant numbers that much, because this year's EC was 9 days long, it was held in the combined structure and we had the highest participant numbers (for European Championships) of all time... and most of these participants were quite satisfied with the event, we got many good feedbacks also on this forum. In any case, we are still on the planning phase, nothing is official yet, I will keep you informed. Regards, Andras |

Hi,
Though I acted only in a class V to me it was not boring those days when I had no starts. The place of competitions was very pleasant for rest... I think that in the future when we will have separate sections for O,H and V competitions will be separate... |

Andras. Will there be any "V" training on the main lake immediately before the start of the "V" week, or is it only available for those
arriving before the H/O week?

Schedule looks good to me but I also have questions about training on the main lake and also the practice lake. I heard that the practice lake can only take
about 3 people on the lake at one time plus it is saltwater. Can we have better than this ? Training on the main lake must be maximised, for example the
situation in Leno was not good enough for V.

You beat me to it Robert, exactly my question on behalf of the Swedish competitors.
Dave, a saltwater training lake brings its own problems..... we run on brackish water all year and the boat/motor maintenance load is heavy. Why O and H at the start again? I know the official record from Norway mentions alternating the starting class and it appears to be up to the organizers but from what I heard of the discussion in Sweden it was a presumed that the starting class would alternate. It would be fairer when it comes to attendance at the award cermonies, choice of camping spots (best ones gone by the time the "V" guys arrive) and alertness of officials ( I know how tiring just a weekend competition can be) amongst other reasons. Apart from that well done on getting a schedule out.

Hello, first of all I think that many good aspects were mentioned in the previous posts, but you have to realize 2 things: - You may know that originally we were opting for a different (mixed) version, but the given schedule was approved by Peter, so we have to stick with this one. - It is a schedule of compromises, you cannot have everything at the same time.
I think that this schedule gives the following answers: - If you only race V and 11 days are too much for you, then you can join in at the middle of the event. - If you do both O/H and V and care about the length of the event, then 11 days are not a bad deal (especially if you think back at the length of previous WCs… and especially if you realize that you stay in a spa resort). - If you care more about free practice possibility than the nr. of days you have to stay (and even take it as a chance to relax with your family), then you even have the option to spend 3 days on track as free practice before the event
Of course we will do our best to give the V guys a possibility to do free practice on the day of the O/H finals, but there's no guarantee. It will be a full day and it all depends on how many junior finals will be ran (which depends on nr. of participants). I assume we won't run V free practices during the O/H award ceremony, I hope you agree.
About practice lake: yes, we are aware of the demand, so of course we will do our best to create better possibilities than during the EC (of course we should not forget at the same time, that this was already much more than what we got in the 2 previous WCs).
About banquet: there will be some sort of a solution (maybe a small party after O/H award ceremony), but I think this is maybe the least important part of the story. If you come to have a good time, you will have a good time, as most of the EC participants did.

Andras, As I said before this a good schedule for me but the free practice before the V racing starts is essential. I remember at the Naviga meeting in Leno
that we questioned the practice situation and was assured that there woiuld be no problem. The idea of running O/H and V separately was so that for those just
doing V or just doing O/H it meant that they did not have to attend for the complete competition. This would be pointless if no free practice was allowed for V
because then all V drivers must attend for the complete competition ( if they want practice). I can assure you that all serious V racers will want plenty of
free practice!

Dave, of course I'm aware of this, but as I've said, this is a compromised schedule (there are just too many points of interest in this case).
Serious racers want to practice a lot: sure, that's why we have 3 days of free practice before the event and that's why we provide a training lake (with an M course), that is available throughout the whole competition. I really do not see the problem, especially compared to previous events, where we had no training lake at all, or the training lake was closed by police after a few days, etc. Regards, Andras |

Andras ,
What Dave ( and I ) are trying to say is , why putting 2 days of training BEFORE the whole event instead of doing one day before the event for H and O and 1 day before the V starts . This way everyone gets an "equal " time of training . It makes no difference for those being there for the whole time . But it makes a BIG difference for those arriving there in the middle of the event . In my case , i'll be there for the V meaning that i will be there around the 1-2 august so i will have missed the official training day . I also know that i won't be the only one doing the V time . I do understand that the schedule is a compromise between several parties but i don't think it makes much difference towards the several parties wether it is a free practice day or a V qualification . Best Regards , B Btw Andras , i'm not critising what you're doing , i'm very glad that you're giving soo much info for us ! We owe you a beer ( or something similar
