He might say it in a harsh way but i think he's right . OR atleast , thats what i think too . The person behind the computer can "easily " count the missed laps on a sheet of paper . I know i can so ...... . There is no need to have an extra person . Besides , the person behind the computer knows who counts and who doesn't , a : he sees it on the screen , b: on our system ( and i know Armin's too ) there is a beep everytime a transponder passes so ....... I do think its time that we make it clear on how to do it , maybe sent a proposal to Naviga concerning the way of counting . Btw , i do not ask for a manual count of ALL boats , i ask for a manual count for the missed laps . B

Exactly this is the point Beard, the technology is not 100%. Suggestion: on all competitions the following parametres use - which put aerial in V3,5-15 on 40 cm and with V35 on 50 cm about water - which put width on 40-60 cm (after arrangement on a concrete width) - length of the aerial 20 m

Alan The simple means is built into the bbK program (don't know about the others) and uses the 1-0 and the QW keys to represent the boat numbers, no need for paper, just press as the boat goes by. The results sheet clearly shows the hand counted laps by marking them with an asterix. It is fully possible to manually count a complete 12 boat heat this way although a caller is essential if the majority of the boats are not counting (extremely rare). Once into a race it soon becomes clear which boats are not counting and you look for those boats specifically. The display shows signal strength and number of hits so the operator also gets an idea of which boats may encounter difficulties. Properly prepared I see no reason why one would need stop a heat even if the antenna breaks. It is not easy but it is possible to hand count a complete race. bbK also has an adjustable minimum lap function and will not count a new lap within that time, this prevents a double count if the operator manually registers a lap and the system also picks up the same pass. I have operated the bbK system for the majority of the V competitions in Sweden for the last 3 years and to me the answer is really quite simple, learn the program and utilise the inbuilt functions. One thing to remember is that we are operating well outside the specifications of the transponder where the recommended maximum distance from the antenna is 15cm...... _____________ Ian Last Edited By: w3bby 10/26/09 00:57:51. Another option is to maybe ask Rob Nelson of bbK to come to a race and go through the system with all of you. Rob was at the WC in Norway and seemed to enjoy his time with the boats. I found most of the stuff myself by playing with the system but have also had help from John Lander here in Sweden who is quite good with the system. So you can have the same transponder-ID on all of your boats. Doubt if they spread more signal , but their 'Bug-booster' could be of any help. Team Model Racing Technology
