This is my experience
I have used several transmitters 6EX, FF9, T12, FX 30, and now an older FC28 ( fitted with TM7 and TM8 module) I have used 606FS, 607FS and 617FS receivers which all use 2 short aerials. So far in 2 years of use I have not experienced a single failsafe operation which is amazing. I use one aerial vertically with about 40 to 50mm inside a plastic tube outside the boat and the other aerial lays inside the radio compartment in no particular place. The receivers are very small and so its easy to fit them inside the radio area. I use carbon/carbon kevlar FSRV and FSRO boats and in my monos the radio box is carbon and the cover over the engine/radio bay is carbon kevlar with the aerial under the cover and still there are no problems whatsoever.
I heard that the Spectrum is still not suitable for boats but have no experience of this or any other make and I would not recommend the Futaba /Robbe FX30 transmitter because the plastic of the case is very weak.
Snags. If I want to change transmitters for some reason then I must relock the receiver to the transmitter. The transmitter aerial is very short and not suitable for reaching the boat if it stops
