Interested to know what kind of oil/grease people are using in the prop shaft. I had been using LM grease mixed with engine oil to make it runny but I do not think it is that good as after a short run I have mayonnaise coming out of the top ball race bearing.

Mayo is coming out because water is coming up the prop tube. I use thin oil.

I think the main reason for the mayo is that the grease is not a waterproof type. Using something like an outboard type, Mecury Quicksilver will not emulsify.
I have been using this in my hydro flex shafts for years with no problems. However I do agree with Dave that a good quality thin oil is best. I have been using
oil mxed with a 'Slick 50' type additive. This tends to coat all bearing surfaces with a film of Teflon to reduce wear.

I use 50% STP and 50% transmission oil, works absolut perfect
