Understandably, Dave may be a little bit reluctant to give out build instructions on a copy boat. I have built many boats without instructions and always follow this formula.
Measured from the transom: Rudder = 10% of hull length Water scoop = 15% of hull length Prop tube = 20% of hull length C of G = 37.5% of hull length
Mount the engine al low as possible and have the shaft angle as shallow as possible with the largest size prop you will use.
I am sure that most boat designers may use a similar formula for their designs as I doubt that they build a whole load of boats varying all the dimensions slightly to give you the absolute best layout. Please correct me if I am wrong here but I do not see anyone building 20-30 boats to determine this. |
